I just bought a 1975 Marina. What fuel octane did British Leyland recommend for a stock '75 Marina?

I've got an owner's manual for a '74 that recommends 91 octane. I'm happy to buy premium fuel but I'm surprised they recommended that. They recommended low octane for similar era MGBs if I recall correctly.

Thanks in advance!

You can relax and use the lowest pump grade.  The '75 Marina used exactly the same engine as the '75 B.  Compression was considerably lower than the '74.  Even at that, I use the lowest grade in my '74 with no ill effects.  Now, the '73 TC coupe' is another thing altogether...  The compression in that engine is up around 9.6:1, and with the Alden distributor and the Delta D9 camshaft, it needs some octane.  So, I only use 93 octane in it--not even the 92 that some dealers sell.

Thanks for the info, I filled up with low octane this time! Seems to be just as happy.
