THIS IS A 1973 AUSTIN MARINA WITH
SOME 1974 TRIM PIECES AND ABOUT 38,000 MILES SINCE AN ABSOLUTELY TOTAL
RESTORATION. EVERYTHING IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IT WAS ONLY A FEW
DAYS AWAY FROM BEING STRIPPED OF HER PARTS AND GOING TO THE CRUSHER WHEN
WE RESCUED HER. WE HAVE OWNED BRITISH CARS FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND THIS IS
OUR SECOND MARINA. WE COULDN’T BEAR TO THINK OF THIS VERY RARE ENGLISH
AUTO VANISHING FOREVER SO WE TOWED HER HOME IN NOVEMBER, 1995 AND BEGAN
WORK. TWO YEARS LATER SHE WAS READY TO GO. WE DRIVE HER OFTEN AND SHE
HAS BEEN TOTALLY RELIABLE. SHE’S ABLE TO RUN ALL DAY AT 70 mph ON THE
FREEWAY. SHE NEVER OVERHEATS EVEN IN THE HOT SOUTHERN SUMMERS BUT THERE
IS NO A/C SO SHE STAYS GARAGED FOR MUCH OF THE HOTTER MONTHS.
THE ENGINE IS SERIES 18V (1800cc, 5
MAIN BEARING, SAME AS MGB) AND IS ESSENTIALLY STOCK. THE TRANSMISSION IS
A BORG WARNER T35 AUTOMATIC, BOTH ORIGINAL TO THE CAR. ALL MECHANICAL
COMPONENTS WERE COMPLETELY OVERHAULED OR CHECKED. SHE HAS KN MINATOR
ALLOY WHEELS, MICHELIN TIRES, SERVO ASSIST DISK/DRUM BRAKES, MARINA GT
DASH WITH INTEGRAL TACH, AND A SONY AM/FM/CASSETTE RADIO.
SHE ATTRACTS ATTENTION EVERYWHERE
SHE GOES, SHE STANDS APART FROM THE ASIAN IMPORTS, SHE’S STRONG,
RELIABLE, AND LOADS OF FUN TO DRIVE.
